Labor Day @ Newcastle Commons

Another beautiful day (and night - we stayed till 8 o'clock!) at our favorite beach...I may have taken too many pictures this trip...and I'm afraid Simone has been watching "America's Next Top Model"...
Caden was ALL over the place... rock climbing, bird chasing. big kid following... you name it!
And an end-of-the-day, totally bribed (I have Sour Patch Kids in the car!!) 3 kid photo shoot...

Ok, I hope this doesn't sound stalker-ish but I'm pretty sure I saw you at the Bedford park today. I stumbled across your blog through MDC? or unschooling links? Not sure but I check in once in a while, I'm interested in unschooling but my kids are still babes. I thought I recognized your beautiful children at the park. Anyways, Hi! Your photos are great. Maybe we'll see you around again.

Hi Janelle, Thanks! I can't figure out how to reach you other than just posting here and maybe you'll see it!?! Anyway, were you the mom with the twin babies? I hope you weren't one of the mom's who was angry with my daughter for blocking the slide and refusing to move! :S Either way, you should of said 'hi'!

Beautiful, beautiful photos of your very beautiful, COOL, happily unschooling kiddos. Looks like you had a great day. A particularly good 3 kid photo shoot - those are the hardest to get.

Yup, that was us. I know I should have said Hi, I'm shy. And no, I didn't notice your daughter blocking the slide, mine were monopolizing the bottom of the little kids slide! I'm gonna check out the LEAP website and I'll keep reading your blog.

Beautiful kids, great photography, you can't take too many photos! Looks like they had a great time. Who wouldn't love a day puttering around in the tide pools and enjoying nature and the natural iquisitive nature of little kids. How did you keep them from looking like lobsters?
Grampy Allen

"By nature people are learning animals. Birds fly; fish swim; humans think and learn. Therefore, we do not need to motivate children into learning by wheedling, bribing, or bullying. We do not need to keep picking away at their minds to make sure they are learning. What we need to do - and all we need to do - is to give children as much help and guidance as they need and ask for, listen respectfully when they feel like talking, and then get out of the way. We can trust them to do the rest."
John Holt
"In the end, the secret to learning is so simple: Think only about whatever you love. Follow it, do it, dream about it...and it will hit you: learning was there all the time, happening by itself." -Grace Llewellyn
"What we want to see is the child in pursuit of knowledge, not knowledge in pursuit of the child."
George Bernard Shaw
Real, natural learning is in the living. It's in the observing, the questioning, the examining, the pondering, the analyzing, the watching, the reading, the DO-ing, the living, the breathing, the loving, the JOY. It's in the joy. ~Anne Ohman
