Not Back to School '08!

Our second annual and better every year! Yes, I'd say we definitely rocked out the group photo this time. Though it wasn't even close to everyone there we totally beat last years attempt! The shirts rocked too, if I do say so myself.

Did the food rock, you ask? Check, it did!So did the ginormous cake. Well, except that the morons decorating our NOT BACK TO SCHOOL cake put school buses on the darn thing!?!?
The Grandma who babysat anywhere from one to six children at any given moment totally rocked....As did the daddy who took another halfday off to attend. And of course Susan rocked out the face paints again...Pray tell Susan.... what exactly is IN those face paints?? Amelia actually fell asleep during her session! After Gabriel's 15 minutes of face paint was still not to his liking (there's NO pleasing this kid!)...we had an IERO (immediate emergency removal operation) with a wet napkin. Only Jack Sparrow was left...Beautiful day & awesome friends... what a way to kick off NOT going back to school! LEAP for joy! Yay us!!!!Not enough pics for you? See the whole lot here: Captured by Jess

Unschoolers Rock the Campground said...

I just stumbled upon your blog. I am also a member of LEAP...but not an active one. I was going to move to NH, but didn't. We are unschoolers in southeastern MA and always love to make some new unschooling connections.
Nice to "meet" you. I enjoyed reading your blog!

Poppies. . . Poppies. . . Poppies!

"By nature people are learning animals. Birds fly; fish swim; humans think and learn. Therefore, we do not need to motivate children into learning by wheedling, bribing, or bullying. We do not need to keep picking away at their minds to make sure they are learning. What we need to do - and all we need to do - is to give children as much help and guidance as they need and ask for, listen respectfully when they feel like talking, and then get out of the way. We can trust them to do the rest."
John Holt
"In the end, the secret to learning is so simple: Think only about whatever you love. Follow it, do it, dream about it...and it will hit you: learning was there all the time, happening by itself." -Grace Llewellyn
"What we want to see is the child in pursuit of knowledge, not knowledge in pursuit of the child."
George Bernard Shaw
Real, natural learning is in the living. It's in the observing, the questioning, the examining, the pondering, the analyzing, the watching, the reading, the DO-ing, the living, the breathing, the loving, the JOY. It's in the joy. ~Anne Ohman
